Indian social activist Medha Patkar explains how the economic development model being imposed on India’s farmers is neither inclusive nor sustainable. As natural resources become commodities and farming families lose the capacity to fulfill their own basic needs, Medha believes that the consumerist paradigm may end up destroying living communities.

Can India Sustain Itself?
You should be ashamed all the problems you have created for the Indians here in America. You hindu, own lots of major hotels and gas stations among other businesses. You hindu, have things on wall street which net you hindu, hughe profits. Do you ever think about the Indians in America, which you have participated in the oppression of these people with your political lobbying? What hve you given to the American Indians from your accumalated wealth? One should think about these things before making complaints about were you live. What about the American Indians were they live?
