Activism in the form of a non-profit

My name is keeesha and I am looking to start a non-profit group that caters to activism. I am currently stuck in Mississippi and theirs not much going on around here these days. I have an out line on how to write grants but I'm not sure how to get started. I don't no how to do "good" research so if someone could give me some tips or advice that would be great.

What kind of activism are you talking about. Try explaining this to similar people in Mississippi and maybe you'll gain some support out there. You can't do it all alone.

I guess any kind of volunteer work would be great before jumping into a huge project. Don't get me wrong I still want to do activist work, I just need to get my hands dirty first, so to speak.

I started a non-profit a few years ago and was stalled in the same way you are, until I found an organization called The Foundation Group. They answered all my questions and gave explicit instructions on how to proceed in setting up a 501(c)(3). Once I was ready to go they helped me all the way through...they are fabulous.
