Barack Obama needs the support of Colorado youth |
SearchAbout floydAbout Me I am a writer/poet from Denver, CO. I am extremely sarcastic and love to mess with people's heads. I would really like to see everyone just get along and do away with the infidels. I am extremely cute and cuddly and thankfully, that has carried me through life. I don't care about George Bush, I care about my cut. We're all in it together, we shouldn't be mad about the lies, I'm mad that through all of this, the price of gas has went UP and I still ain't got my stimulus payment. What's up with that? |
Barack Obama continues to gain support in Colorado, but are the local organizations doing enough to attract the younger voters?
An independent organization held an Obama rally on 4/19/2008 that featured a band and representative Ed. Perlmutter. The event, held at civic center park featured a powerful speech and a small two hundred-person crowd. While the crowd was enthusiastic and supportive, there was a lack of minorities and youth. When considering the candidate is black and fairly young, the absence of young minorities was concerning. The event was supposed to be held in several cities in all 50 states. Advertising of the event was held in e-mails only and the turnout was large considering, however, for Obama to have a real chance, the local effort should improve to attract more youth. Perlmutter estimated that Obama will win overwhelmingly in Colorado, but for it to happen, supporters need to be more active in attracting followers.
