Free The WM3
It's been a while since I posted a journal entry on this community.
I'm an advocate for the complete unconditional release of Jessie Misskelly, Damian Echols, and Jason Baldwin. They were accused, and never rightly convicted of the murder of 3, 8 year old boys in West Memphis Arkansas. In fact their "conviction" relies heavily on their musical tastes, religious beliefs, and the simple fact that they liked the color black, and wore it often.
This was a witchhunt right on down to the fact that Damian Echols was at the time a believer in Wicca. Can we get more literal than that? Probably not. Jessie Misskelly, who's mind is not as strong as the prosecution would have you believe, was interrogated without legal counsel or parental consent for half a day. He did not know he should have had an attorney present, and the police (who taped very little of this interrogation) failed to tell him of this fact. Well, Misskelly eventually "confessed", and based on this confession the other two boys were convicted in seperate trials for the same crime.
This is an excellent site http://www.wm3.org/live/newsevents/index.php that will help you get on your way. I've looked for an hour now for the complete court transcripts so that I can post some of it on here, yet for some reason I can't find them even in Arkansas' official justice system page.
A fine pair of documentaries you can watch are Paradise Lost, and Paradise Lost 2 "Revelations". You can find them in their entirity on youtube and I'm sure many other sites, and on DVD.
Now Echols is on death row, set to be "executed" (or murdered) by lethal injection for crimes he quite obviously didn't commit.
Happy hunting.
