Gay USA Highlight: ENDA without transgender protections
IN THE NEWS: The Human Rights Campaign goes back on its promise NOT to support a federal non-discrimination bill that excludes transgendered people, arrests in a gay-bashing in NJ, the impending execution a gay man in Iran for alleged sex he engaged in at 13 and more.
After the show was taped, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, covering only sexual orientation, just passed the US House by a vote of 235-184 this Wednesday(Nov. 7). An amendment to put coverage for "gender identity and expression" was offered by Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) and withdrawn. We will have more coverage of the debate on NEXT week's Gay USA with our guest, transgender activist Melissa Sklarz.
