There is a law called the Hatchet law, which does not allow a person which is seated in an elected position to be re-elected. The person must resign before their names can be put in the hat to be re-elected.
I am not sure if this applies to all elected position nationally or state.
Is a Statute in Florida. Not sure if its constitutional but someone can check it out.

Dear FSTV And all who still believe in Her Lady Liberty.Yes Senator Joe Lieberman Does seem to have "Jumped Ship" But those of Us who truly understand people can fully understand Why He did so . Say for example you were a True Patriot Running for Office with say another True Patriot and for whatever the {God Only Knows} reason you came in second {You Lost}, Then without any notice your country seemed to have been attacked and many lives were lost then out of the blue the Lacky you thought took the election all the Sudden seem's to Be the Man Or rather Rambo in and around the Political Water cooler So now you begin to hear Him Bark out words Like NOT ON MY WATCH ! And BRING IT ? and On and On and On and to top it off He comes out with What seem's to be Evidence of all this Crazy WAR stuff, Well Maybe Ole Joe Lieberman say's to Hisef Wait a minute I'm not going to stick My Neck out there and argue this Guy what If for some crazy reason He turns out Correct ? The Whole Country will Hate Me ? And say That I was Just another Demo-Weakling Or Liberal idiot that made Us weak Or worse ... Well friends I think Joe would Have rather Turned in His Mother than to take a chance that this was all just Part Of Operation Northwoods and NEVER HAD SQWAT TO DO WITH US BEING ATTACKED BY OUTSIDE FORCES. PERIOD !

I have been saying for years. That if an elected official who leaves the party that VOTED them into office. Then He or She should be forced to resign and give up their seat.
Otherwise our vote is not worth its value in dung! We the true patriots MUST demand better from our government of the people, by the people, and for the people.
As an American! What is your belief on this matter?
