Some of you just don't get it, do you?
The present administration obviously used computer software to figure out how to adjust the electorial college, manipulating the district weights in such a way as to have Bush elected. It doesn't matter though, since the Democrats and Republicans seem to be like horses owned by the same small group of people who own most the wealth on the planet.

Petition for Renunciation of United States Citizenship by Brothers Incarcerated in the Comstock Correctional Facility, November 1991
According to recent United States government statistics, over 50,000 people are encaged within New York prisons. Of that astonishing number, almost 50 percent are African-American, with a lesser, though significant percentage, roughly 30.7 percent, Hispanics. This is so even though only 13.68 percent of New York's state population is black and Hispanic.
In the northern districts of New York, a group of politicized prisoners are beginning to frame a unique response to this plague of black encagement.
In late November 1991, some sixty-four prisoners at New York's Comstock Prison put their signatures to a document formally renouncing their citizenship in a nation bent on spitting on their alleged "freedoms." The document expresses historical and contemporary beliefs that demand severance from the land of tortured birth:
Petition for Renunciation of United States Citizenship by Brothers Incarcerated in the Comstock Correctional Facility, November 1991:
We, the undersigned, renounce the citizenship thrust upon us without our consent.
We believe the act of incorporating Africans and Indians into the United States framework serves to nullify the war crimes against our ancestors.
We believe America is an illegitimate country founded on genocide, kidnapping, rape, theft, oppression and racism.
We believe America cannot change its nature.
We believe America's system of economics perpetuates oppression, poverty, and crime. Eurocentric capitalism cannot exist without exploitation.
We believe that this system of economics condemned Africans, Indians, Latinos, and poor whites to ghetto colonies.
We believe the Thirteenth Amendment never freed slaves. We were "released" into a totally impoverished condition wherein many of our peers were forced to engage in a desperate sub-culture in order to survive.
We believe the Thirteenth Amendment is also unconstitutional as it commits prisoners to the station of a slave, by violating the premise of rehabilitation and by not allowing the notion of self-determination.
We believe many major religious bodies should ask for the world's forgiveness for its crimes against Africans, Indians (indigenous), and poor white, and should pay an indemnity for its part in the European slave holocaust and expansionism.
We believe the names of the founding families and plantation owners should be revealed in our history books.
We believe America should tell the descendants of the slave holocaust, the nations we come from, that we can ask for political asylum there or be repatriated back to those original nations.
Signed by sixty-four black Inmates of Comstock Correctional Facility, (New York State).
Denied the most fundamental rights as guaranteed by the United Nations Declarations governing the rights of imprisoned persons, subjected to daily brutality and utter humiliation, caged by a system born in racist imbalance, the Comstock Brothers' Petition touched a deep nerve.

And when you make a statement like that it just goes to show how racist some people are. We in this country dont need con's choosing our President, hell they should not even be able to vote for a dog catcher! Get a clue

Rev_Rob, maybe you need to be informed about what's going in Pennsylvania. The governor of that state, a Democrat, is doing his utmost to get convicted felons currently in prison to vote. Since most of them are probably disenfranchised (they are convicted felons), they would, if allowed, vote Democratic. In the meantime, he stonewalled allowing brave soldiers serving overseas (about 26,000 Pennsylvanians) from having their absentee votes counted because the ballots wouldn't be in until after Election Day. This was true until conservative pressure was put on him to extend when the ballots came in to be counted in Pennsylvania. By the way, 75% of those soldiers will vote for Bush and Republicans. For those who don't know, the ballot was sent out late because of the Democrats’ successful fight to keep Ralph Nader off the ballot. The original ballots sent to our troops had Nader’s name on it and any votes on them would not have been counted. The extension means that the ballots must be postmarked on Election Day and must be in the hands of the vote counters by a week later. This is a victory for soldiers protecting this country and its people as opposed to those who are in prison for trying to take advantage of this country and its people.
That's right Rev_Rob, keep throwing race as the reason people aren't allowed to vote, even incarcerated convicted felons. Got any more arguments on race? Maybe you need a new set of contact lenses so that you can see people as people. Maybe then you'll see a convicted felon, no matter if their black or white (or any other color), for what they are; convicted felons.

No im not saying, nor is anyone else to my knowledge that the people in jail are not going to be able to vote. The reason for that is because people in jail or prision don't have few rights and voting isnt one of them. What I am saying, and is concerning many people, is that people who have served thier time are not being given the right to vote once they seved their time. Though I dont agree with this particular approach of dealing with ex-felons, its a matter of your own conscience.
What I can tell you is what has happened when this list to purge ex-felons from the voting was implemented in florida. The result was thousands ( I say thousands because the numbers arent quite clear, some estimates are as high as 100,000+) or citizens that were strip of there rights to vote. There were many mistakes in the ex-felons list that cause people who never comitted a felony, to be strip of their voting rights gurantted in the US constitution. People who had similar names as felons on the list also had problems at the polls but for most of them they simple couldnt cast a vote.
As for "exercising your vote" as 13th~ put it, this is if you cant find a more meaningful way of participating in bringing about change, 13th~ is absolutely right. If you really are serious about casting a vote then you should find out everything and do everything you can to make sure you vote counts and is counted.
May Truth guide your path,
Rev. Rob

Im glad to see that some are interested in this topic, and there are even some enlighting comments being posted. It was posted that "many people(Anti bush )are not happy Bush team won in Florida." It is true that many people, not Necessarily anti bush, are upset with the out come of the 2000 election. When over 20,000 people, the vast majority which where registered democrates, are not not allowed to vote and the election is ultimately decided by the supreme court instead of the voters, there is going to be a little resentment. Since that election is over and nothing was done, the only thing that we the people can do is to remember what happened so that it can be prevented from happening again.
"Not much is known about Kerry. It is better for Kerry to
take a SEAT BACK, as the next 4 years will be trying years with both Iraq and Afghan war going on, allow Bush to complete what is started. Rather than take the difficult taskand carry the responsibility." Though i will never vote in an election, to choose which slave master is better. It dishonesty to say that not much is know about Kerry. Much the contray because of republican attack ads and kerrys senate record, much is know about the "liberal flip flopin' Massachusetts senator" It might be better for your cause to say, "there is alot known about this senator, just look at his record." I think it would be a grave danger to allow bush to contiune his quest for American Hegemony but at the same time kerry doesnt instill much hope that he will do anything different regarding foreign policy. Kerry might be a more compassionate emperor, but that doesnt qualifiy him to get any vote from me.
Regarding notafraids comments
It doesnt really matter how many supposed "cheats" there are. It only takes a couple "cheats" with authority to change this election, as was the case in the last election. If you interest in how this was accomplished then i suggest you read some of greg palast articals concering the election in 2000.
May peace be with those that seek it,
Rev. Rob

Today a rueters artical written by Alan Elsner talked about how 5 million people convited of a felony and served their prisons sentences will not be allowed to vote in the upcomming presidental elections. This means that 15 percent of all black men will not be allowed to cast a vote this election season. The artical goes on to say that 14 states including: florida, nevada, and new mexico will and have prevented ex-felons from voting.
This is a serious problem and it seems that nothing is be done to stop these states from disenfranchising there citizens. Florida was only won by a matter of 537 votes in the last election and over 20,000 black voters were not allowed to cast a vote because they listed as ex-felons. If nothing is done to prevent this, then i have all the confidence in the world that no matter what kerry does in these next couple month on the campaign trail, that curious george will still yet another election.
