Do we actually have any traditional Satanists here? Or are we all Satanists by his definition? I don't understand. I do hope I get an email though. Sounds like fun to me. I'm always up for a new penpal especially when he/she hates my guts. I feel I must apologize on some level for defending an obviously unstable person, whether this email came from him or not. I don't regret the things I said or why I said them, but it would be nice to help someone I can relate to.
I have to be honest. Look doesn't need to apologize any more for his comments than say, Jimmy Carter does on his comments about the Bush Administration. Granted, Carter was right about what he said, and that does make a difference. However doesn't it undermine free speech if we are to apologize for everything we say? Things we say offend people. There will always be someone to apologize to. A vicious cycle. He'd still be lying to you anyway. He wouldn't be sorry, he'd still believe the things he said were true. I personally wouldn't accept an apology outright. But I'm a cynic so you know... I could be wrong, and I usually hope I am. Just my opinion.

I get the feeling that LooknLearn is angry about many things happening in the world. Many people have to speak from the heart in order to vent frustrations and anger before the shit gets too heavy. Anyway, if anger can be resolved via free personal expression, i say LooknLearn is/was not in the wrong. I am glad to see this worked out as it has, however what about an appology?

Uh, no, it doesn't. You know how I know this? I read history. For thousands of years people in Europe took out there anger about economic injustices by blaming the jews: Jewish Bankers, Jewish Businessmen, the Internation jewish Cartel....

Generally we err on the side of letting posts stay, but in about 3 instances we have removed posts from the front page.

I'm sure you know the 1st Ammendment, and I'm not a big enough jerk to post it, but if this community isn't about the 1st Ammendment then we as subscribers should be let in on that secret immediately.
I'm far from being someone who hates women or other races or homosexuals. My thoughts are if we want a discussion about these extremely important issues then we need to be able to read what the "other sides" are saying. Otherwise we just preach to the converted and get nowhere. Please don't govern me or try to protect me from evil racists. I'm sure I can handle them just as well as I have in the past. I look forward to reading the constructive discussion that you have with him! Because if you truly do not "hate women or other races or homosexuals" and at the same time want to protect free speech than you need to challenge hate speech whenever you see it. That is one of the responsibilities of free speech. Of course most white, heterosexual males rarely step up to the plate because they don't feel personally threatened, after all no ones's attacking white straight guys right? They want "free speech" but they aren't willing to challenge it when its misused. If there had been strong challenges to his poisoned ideology than we wouldn't have felt the need to bump it off the front page. Once there are strong discussions around his posts than they will return to the front page. The choice is yours.

When you start picking and choosing what people can say on a site that's supposedly about free speech, well isn't that fascism? How are any of the rest of us supposed to be sure our posts are safe? Especially our journal posts. That which probably shouldn't be touched by any moderator above all the forum posts. Incidentally I think there's a bigger issue than his racism and all. No wonder we can't get any meaningful conversation going. Here I thought people with different views just didn't know about this place. We're all robots because we're willing to bow down to this. Also, who would decide what "strong discussions" means? Is there a number of replies and posts I need to know about before I start this adventure? Do you really believe there is no responsibility that goes with Free Speech? I believe there is.
I believe there is a responsibility to speak truth to power.
I believe there is a responsibility to speak up for social justice.
I believe there is a responsibility to tell your homophobic friend that his jokes aren't funny.

Of course we should be fighting for equality and justice, I never said we shouldn't. But then why do I get to say what I think and he doesn't? That's not equality. Just because he's a racist doesn't mean he's any less of a person than you or I. It doesn't mean his views are less important. I personally don't think Looks jokes were funny, but maybe others do. My entire point was you can't sweep dirt under a rug and expect it to never surface again. It's always a mistake to ignore a problem. If you want my personal opinion and really my first impression of his views, he's misguided, racist, homophobic, I can't really say if he hates women as for most of his posts are rather difficult to get a real meaning out of. Then again I might not have read something he wrote that you did read. Mostly what I can gather is his message is basically (horrible grammar i know) gays = bad and God hates everyone but people like him or something. I haven't really figured it out yet.

Shit I forgot one thing. As far as the responsibility of free speech. Like I said before I believe the only responsibility is to use it. I think that covers it. But the thing is, as I see it, free speech is a double edged sword. I can cut someone with it, and they can cut me back. That's how I learn. I know I'm a bit long-winded but one more thing. This was never for a second about looknlearn to me. This was about removing posts on the free speech community. As long as a person doesn't threaten anyone what use is there in removing any post?
