Hoorah for Exxon Mobil!!
I remember the first energy crisis, and the rationing and gas lines in the mid seventies. I also remember the "government" stating that "we need to find an alternative to foreign oil and our dependance on it".
Well, it's been thirty years since then, and where is that alternative energy????????

Just read on Yahoo that they once again had record profits. The source was yahoo news and AP, and they practically lauded the company for its achievements- oh but on the brighter side they did say that they would be getting some heat in Washington... Whew, and I thought this would go unchecked- that there wasn't someone looking out for us little guys. Thanks Bush!! Thanks for looking out for us and keeping big oil in check. What's more, it said in the article that Exxon was spending more money on exploration...Billions of dollars on exploration...Well that's money well spent- gosh I dunno what else they would spend it on. Surely not alternative energy research- why, that would be like funding the opposition. No way if they spent money on research could they get proprietary/patent rights on new technologies.
I would like to see another expose on FSTV about this and what links exist between the Bush family and this company- be it through lobbying or something far more sinister- which I suspect. I would also like to see some information about the alternative energy research- are they getting increases in funding at all- couldn't Exxon get a tax break for doing some of the research? Not that they need one, but we are operating in a capitalist society, afterall.
