Oil Drilling Medicine Man

Seems even "alternative news" is slow on getting information from Indian Country and what's happening in the down and dirty world of politics and money.

Here at home in the Land of Enchantment, Home of the Atomic Bomb while we are still being poisoned by uranium, Jim stopped by on his way home to North Dakota to tell me his plans to start his Heyoka (medicine man) training with a bundle of cash in hand. He told me that drilling for oil in North and South Dakota are commencing as we spoke and he and his relatives were getting tens of thousands of dollars and 20 cents on the barrel.

I asked him if the money for drilling the organs out of our Mother Earth was in contradiction to becoming a Heyoka. He said he hadn't thought about it. Well from a Bear's perspective I guess when you have been oppressed, had your land taken from you, your culture ravaged by oppression and poverty, that you might be able to be bought off pretty cheap at the expense of our Earth.

The Elder's told the People to live humbly, and in harmony with the Web of Life. Us Bears, think this is the time that you two-legged's need to tighten your belts and make some changes to your lifestyles. A fist full of frog backs isn't going to get you or the rest of life on this Earth out of the fix we're in. As for becoming a Heyoka, well I've heard that money can't buy that either, this is, after all, the time of "False Prophets".
