Stop the war on drugs
I know that hemp has a lot of good properties and i think that's the reason they are currently banning marijuana. But what can we really do about it ? weap... narconon

The governments goal is to bunkrupt our economy! thats why they will never make practical laws on legalizing marajuana!
#1.) they could sell it them selves while creating huge revenues and then tax the living shit out of it, not to mention all the jobs it would create!
#2.) Hemp wich has almost no THC at all in it has been dubbed as the billion dollar crop! did you know that over 25,000 different products can be made from hemp? It to has the potential to create more jobs not to mention the primary and secondary revenues (retail+taxation)!
#3.) furthurmore hemp has a high ratio for extracting carbon dioxide from our atmosphere more so than most crops and it also would cause savings in anual seeding and fertilizing because it maintains the stability of the top soil in the rotation process....farmers have been lobbying for years to legalize hemp for that reason alone it serves a vital place in the crop rotation process by allowing the soil time to rejuvinate inbetween the corn the cotton and the wheat!
#4.) legalizing marajuana and hemp would put the street dealers out of bussiness thus cutting down on crime in certain areas of the population!
#5.) people say "WELL I DONT WANT MY KIDS TO BE SMOKING IT" well i say to them there is a 90% chance that your children already have or at least know someone who does and if they wanted to smoke it they will weather its leagal or not! But then again it would make the DEA and the FBI invent new enemies and new battles to justify there anual expenditures/budget increases! and would most likely lead to job cuts within the law enforcement community.and they will never let that happen will they?

i cringe when I hear someone say the war on drugs is a joke. I understand the context, but, something about the concept bugs me. I guess to me there's a undertone of indifference, even if it's the farthest thing from what was intended. Look we can do something about these issues. It's all about motivation. Too many people think their thoughts don't matter. So they don't speak to anyone about anything. It's the same as the "my vote doesn't matter so why bother?". It's bullshit. The only way your voice doesn't matter is if you don't speak out. The only way change is going to come is if we speak out. You speak out and I promise you you'll find someone who agrees. Then another, and another. Pretty soon you have a small movement which will more than likely grow. Legalization is growing too. It will stall when we stall. To say the "war on drugs" will go on forever, can't be accurate, with all due respect. People thought slavery would go on forever. Then a movement came along and eventually, after some time, slavery was abolished. Hell, people thought alcohol prohibition would go on forever too. The "war on drugs" is young. Hasn't been around nearly as long as slavery. I think it's time for people to deliver the ultimatum: "Legalize it or we'll find someone who will!!!" I just hope pardons are given for all the non-violent "criminals" that got busted for smoking a joint.

I don't really want heroin or cocaine legalized. I've done them both in my life, one a lot more than the other, and I've seen firsthand many times what happens over the years. But.. I don't see how it's my business to say to someone, you can't do cocaine. I certainly don't want "addicts" being thrown in prison where they'll be forced to become violent or die. I think the issue, at least in my own head, is non-violent criminals in prison. Not so much legalization of any "drug". Unfortunately prisons are a huge business. And I'm sure they contribute more than a fair share to the politics of this country. So yeah, we'll probably keep throwing people away into some dark hole where they'll never return from. There is no united movement on this issue. Maybe you're site will be the beginning of a new wave. I say start it up regardless of how many people reply here and what they say. Just do us a favor and send the link along please. Take care. L&P

Many great thinkers in this world used pot, for many it opens ones mind and puts things into perspective. For some it relaxes those who seem to be on edge, similiar to those that merely have an evening cocktail to relax from ones busy day. Most drugs in their natural state have no adverse effects, such as the cocoa leaves. The drug companies break these down to the basic compounds that purify and strengthen the affects. Again drugs in their natural state are not the problem, the manufactured drugs are the problem. Take the Native Americans and their peace pipes, for the most part a peaceful people and a wonderful steward of Mother Earth. It wasn't until the white man introduced them to alcohol that they found out how a manufactured drug can ruin a culture (not too mention how the white man and spanish men slaughtered and enslaved them).
Back to pot, it has never been shown that it kills people as alcohol and tobacco has proven to do.

I haven't kept up much with the war on drugs, and I have no personal experience with drugs. But I do have an informed opinion on the subject. Being a college student and an Environmental Science major, most of my friends use drugs, Marijuana mostly. I think it should be legalized, it isn't nearly as addictive as tobacco and the government doesn't seem to have a problem with tobacco use. I'm sure Philip Morris wouldn't mind if the government let them grow weed to make up for lost cigarette sales. As for the harder drugs. I completely agree that we need to enforce rehabilitation programs. So pretty much, I agree with what you're saying 13hrdrive, even though I haven't used any drugs,and I've never even been drunk before. But I've seen the way my friends who smoke weed live, and they're pretty close to the way my other friends live.

Thank you for your reply treesRsweet. Now if we could only convince the United States Gov't the same thing. Then we'd be doing something.
Maybe if we could get enough people to reply to this forum, we could really get something started. Tell your friends about it and have them reply. If there's enough response, I may just start a website to gain national support.
The American Gov't has lost the "war on drugs." It's time they started trying to take care of the American citizens. My feelings are to enforce rehabilitation and maintenance programs; to adopt the netherlands laws of legalizing marijuana and to create help programs for those on hard drugs. The income from marijuana alone could bring this country out of it's national debt. Why make something as innocent (or less innocent) than alcohol illegal? Why not allow it, enforce more realistic laws, and finally benefit from it? The american people have been fighting for a reinvention to the drug war. It's time the Gov't took notice and listened. What are your views???
I agree with what you've already said. Punishment is getting us nowhere fast. But, you see, the prison system is a business and they're trying to make as much money as possible. I really don't believe marijuana will be legal within this decade.

I haven't kept up much with the war on drugs, and I have no personal experience with drugs.- same here.
====================
look at this way,inspite of war of drugs ,billions of money
is still moving around ,perhaps legalising can raise money to reduce the fiscal deficit,keep control on such trade and
ensure the money is spend productively in the economy rather than on anti social activities funding.
=====================
An average man on the street cannot fight such forces
eg -If one interfere,these people might say" you want to
live or die" they can threaten your family and disrupt
your daily activities.They might try to kill you anytime
even if you are on guard all the time.eg say one walks
on the road,someone stabs or knock you down,injury you
throw acid or other harmful ways.
People are afraid to interfere with such anti social people
and take the tension.That is why such people have their
ways even break laws cooly.Moreover some dont mind
dying if they are caught.
===============================
Another example why people don't like to interfere with
such anti social people.
eg you may be a Very important Person.Maybe a Leader
or holding a powerful position.But you cannot be on the
guard 100% while it take just one occasion to get the right
shot or cause harm.What is happening in Iraq,leader are
being bombed or assasinated while they are on the roads
or for that matter if someone is after you ,every movement is watched like a crocodile waiting for his kill.
=====================================
Therefore is is better not to create enemies for yourself,because all that power and positions is of no use if someone is targetting you to kill you.The person Targetting you is insignificant,does not mind losing his life
but the VIP he targets, is a very important person who has a lot to lose.
=====================================
Since a person cannot be on guard 100% of the time
he should not create enemies or people who will resort to
such things.Therefore every conflict and problem must
be worked out ,negotiated,on the table,before creating
a Black and white division.Wisdom
=====================================
Thus in the the world.
there are 2 kinds of people
1.People who want to do thing right and creative.Build and add.
2.People who want to do wrong and destroy.Pull down
to Zero.

Alcohol and tobaco are the biggest killers in most Developed nations. Not heroin, cocaine, ecstasy or marajuana.

The war on drugs will never end.
Crime is money and money makes the world go around.
Think of all the law enforcement,judges,lawyers,DEA etc. that would be out of a job if we legalized drugs or just stopped the war on drugs all together.
Money is what it is all about and nothing more.
The war on drugs stimulated the economy and therefore has become its own institution.
It will always be here and the govt will spend billions as they like to do even though we all know it is a joke.

Now there is a war that I just can't get behind... talk about a quagmire... it is a sad state of affairs with no end in sight, which is extremely unfortunate.
I didn't read all the posts for this topic, but I agree with most of the opinions I did read.
