Stop Pebble Mine!
Submitted by skinnychef on Fri, 2008-06-20 08:07.Pebble Mine is a huge threat to the biosphere in Bristol Bay, Alaska-- one of the largest Salmon rookeries in the world. If we continue to allow Canadian mining interests like Hunter Dickinson to dictate U.S. environmental "policy" we will find ourselves without clean water to drink and biodiversity in no time! We all may be headed that way anyway, but why expedite the process by allowing multi-national conglomerates to run amok? Do something!

Resisting Desert Rock
Submitted by Rebel Insurgent on Tue, 2007-03-06 00:48.– by Nathan Coe, Guerrilla News Network
In the deserts of the Southwestern United States—the area known as the Four Corners—energy and resource wars are nothing new. Locals say that there is nothing pettier than water politics in the Southwest. The legacy of coal and other mining and oil and gas drilling is a long one, as is the legacy of colonialism and the battles fought by the indigenous to protect their sacred lands.
