life expectancy on the rez is about 45 years because of incredibly high infant mortality, teen suicide, murder, gangs, crystal meth, and alcoholism. the future is bleak for the young people on Pine Ridge.

The Mel Gibson movie, “Apocalypto”, features Mayans acting like Aztecs on a souped up road to hell, their long abandoned cities now suddenly flourishing with a huge amount of people that like to sit and watch the most outlandish executions producing mountains of dead bodies, and rivers of blood. The Mayans in this movie make all previous bloodthirsty savages in all other cultures seem tame by comparison.
George Washington, Devourer of Villages
Submitted by bart on Fri, 2007-06-01 14:40.I just saw this story on one of my favorite daily reads, "Axis of Evel Knieval" The site is a sort of This day in sordid history chronicle. Yesterday, May 31st's entry, was about George Washington ordering the genocide of the Native American tribes that sided with British in the American Revolutionary War.

Siletz Tribal Inheritance Recklessly Dispersed

The members of the Siletz Tribe have repeatedly approached their elected leaders, asking for transparency, with no success.
Efforts to uncover excessive and reckless spending of gaming revenue are beginning to surface. In reaction the elected leaders voted to spend $300,000 on a "Positive Image" campaign.
Efforts to do a hand counting sample of Tribal election ballots were denied.
Efforts to prevent government officials from destroying audio records of meeting was also denied.
Members are denied presence at "economic development" meetings, where elected leaders spend millions of dollars. Elected leaders deny members to view documents regarding business endeavors, and loan documents, even though these government representatives are using the Tribal resources (timber revenue/gaming revenue) as collateral.
Members go without health care, while elected leaders hire friends and family as consultants, without advertising positions.
Government representatives meet in secret "Executive Session" with attorneys, to discuss how to change laws, which enable them to gain power and control, leaving little or no recourse for the tribal members who they actually serve.
We respectfully ask for support from other like minded parties and individuals who would seek to create a structure that is transparent and accountable.

In recent years I have noticed an onslaught of Native American websites and groups. As I venture threw them I see good people trying to spread the word of the wrongs that is going on in the red world. Indeed there are many real nice sites. Such as Native Landz, UISO, Native Earthkeepers , Native Earthworks (have to plug my own site of course lol) UNA .One Nation Ok lies and I know of many out their who I have not mentioned (due to lack of keeping this article short plus it’s a longgggggggggggggg list ) …And then there are the groups .that’s a whole different story…granted the red cyber road is nothing like the red road
