Two years after the outbreak of the war in Nahr al-Bared, the camp's fate remains unclear. The reconstruction of the official camp might start soon, but the army keeps its tight grip on the camp. Several checkpoints, barbed wire and military posts cut Nahr al-Bared off from its surroundings.

In May 2007, the battle between Fatah al-Islam and the Lebanese army broke out in Nahr al-Bared Refugee Camp in northern Lebanon. Amidst heavy fighting, the Lebanese army had systematically destroyed the entire camp by September 2007. Two years later, nearly all the rubble has been cleared from the "old camp", the core of Nahr al-Bared.

"Blowing in the Wind" is a beautiful iconic 1960s protest song from the best decade of the 20th century, by the brilliant Bob Dylan. With today's horrible wars, ethnic cleansing, genocide, rampant Capitalism and the decline in socialism, this song is more relevant than ever, and I have been moved to make my own version.

The anarchist video collective "a-films" announces its latest short film (10 min.) from the destroyed Nahr al-Bared Refugee Camp in Lebanon called "Traces of Collective Dispossession".

The war in Nahr al-Bared Camp left tens of thousands of Palestinians homeless. Under fire and assuming they could soon return to the camp after their flight, most of them haven't taken any of their belongings with them. Until now, none of the refugees are allowed to return to the ruins of their camp.

After almost 60 years in Lebanon, Palestinian refugees are still facing harsh conditions in their daily lives. They suffer from severe housing conditions in the refugee camps, poverty, racism and many forms of social, political and legal discrimination. In dozens of jobs, especially in those requiring special skills and higher education, Palestinians are forbidden to work.

This film was produced by refugees from the destroyed Nahr al-Bared Camp during a video-workshop in Beddawi Refugee Camp near Trablous, North Lebanon. For two weeks, a-films has trained a group of refugees in filmmaking.
