I-Witness Video has been served with two subpoenas by lawyers from the City of New York in connection with the 2004 Republican National Convention. The City has demanded every piece of paper, electronic file, and videotape related to the protests - even our copies of the tapes shot by their own NYPD!

Saturday, June 14th more than 20 media activists gathered together at the Five Points Media Center in the offices of Free Speech TV to learn how to be the media. Colorado Indymedia conducted the training in the hopes that grassroots activists could begin to document their own stories and struggles during the Democratic National Convention.

This Week:

This weekend, my friends at Recreate 68 are organizing The Great Easter Spy Camera Hunt this Saturday. This is a great opportunity to join those of us in Denver in identifying and mapping surveillance cameras that are being installed throughout our city. Having lived in Chicago, where the police put up cameras with flashing blue lights in poor neighborhoods with large numbers of people of color, it is clear that these cameras will be used to reinforce the violence of the state, protect the capitalist thieves in power, and defend murderers from the righteous indignation of the people. So, if you wanna, go get your hunt on and help Recreate 68 mark these cameras so we know our city well for the upcoming protests against the Democratic National Convention!

For those anarchists out there looking to get organized around the Democratic and Republican National Conventions, Unconventional Action has just printed their paper outlining Anti-Authoritarian strategy from now till the upcoming elections!

As the country gets invested in the electoral politics and is forced by corporate rule to choose between 2 sell-out parties representing the ruling class, some Anarchists are planning to use this as an opportunity to protest capitalist globalism and demonstrate that another world is possible.

As we organize for the protests against the Democratic National Convention and Republican National Convention, its important to remember that a few huge direct actions a year will not create the necessary political shift away from this corporate controlled oligarchy, the two-party, colonial system. Every day we need to be engaging and sustaining direct action responses against grotesque corporate slime, the two-party system.
