What has happened to America's Free Press? (South Georgia)

TO: Editors, FCC, Concerned Citizens, Internet, and beyond…

Is it possible for any Metropolitan City to withhold valid information from the general public if it involves a member of law enforcement’s termination from their job? Does the general public have a right to know? Especially while other ordinary citizens have their picture on the front page, on television, and talked about on all local radio programs when they make mistakes.

If such information is being withheld in our Metropolitan Metropolis (Valdosta), of a criminal act, then the people and our nation is at a great lost. How sad?

We can only hope that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), respects the wishes of the founding fathers of our Republic in the 21st Century, and insist that the flow of information keep moving until it reaches the general public without hindrance.

Soon a story may be forth coming concerning such an incident locally and the number of days our media withheld this information from the general public. Seemingly, to keep us deaf, dumb, and blind to the times. So the people of South Georgia cannot make intelligent decisions based on facts.

So is America NOW a police state with the help of a strictly controlled media machine?

Moreover, can we trust the FCC to do its job? Americans must acknowledge the real courageous patriots of our beloved Republic, and never bow down to falsehood. Otherwise, our freedom and constitutional rights could very well become a thing of the past.

SPECIAL NOTE: There are major events in our community that is continuously being ignored by local media. For example: On October 14, 2007, an Election Forum was held at a local church and all election candidates appeared except incumbent Mayor Fretti, and Councilman Sumner for whatever reasons but the event was not reported by our local media.

Then on October 15, 2007, there was a protest march in Quitman, Georgia. It was in protest of the death of a 59 year old American Veteran (Sammy Baker), who was tased sever times by Quitman Police at a convenient store and later died. However, his death opened up old wombs of many past deaths that have gone unresolved in both Quitman and Lowndes County Georgia dating back to 1918.

There were 430 concerned citizens both Black and White that participated in the march and assembled at the service station where Mr. Baker was tased. Many other protesters followed behind in an unplanned vehicular motorcade of support.

The marchers stopped at the Quitman Police Station and made statements. Most importantly it was a peaceful protest that followed in the spirit of the Rev. Martin L. King Jr., of non-violence. This alone should have been reported to the general public in memory of the great Nobel Peace Prize Winner who taught this method to civil rights organizations across the nation.

However, the largest Metropolitan Metropolis city newspaper never published a word of this historical event. We can only wait and see if the Quitman Free Press will publish anything. Well, I am happy to inform over 618 of you of the events. Otherwise, you may have never known about this protest march and what is going on in the state that Rev. Martin L. King Jr., fought so hard to change. I thank all the concerned citizen that participated in the march. Peace and God bless everybody.
