1)to scare the s??t out of you in order to convince you that you need big brother looking out for you
2)to distract you from how badly your getting f??ked by washington
3)to convince you that there is nothing you can do about the problems of this world

If I were a former president and I died, I would turn over and over in my grave knowing that my funeral takes time away from coverage of the Iraq War, or any major event.
What's with all these commercials on these "news" channels? Hasn't anyone noticed this? I know we that think have but doesn't it say something to the "average" American? I doubt Pfizer will ever be bashed on CNN, no matter how much they deserve it. Strange world we got here. No wonder the UFO's never actually land. j/k.

These days, the mainstream news media has reached the point of complete absurdity. The news reports chosen for viewing are not at all related in regard to importance or urgency and offer no help to inform on the human or environmental condition in an honest manner. We are powerless in our attempts to just turn on the television or pick up the daily newspaper in hopes of finding a "true" news account or any pertinent story in real time that is not altered with partisan screening or political censorship of some kind.
The purpose of the news is to report on the major events of the day that include the who, how, when, what and why of any event that is captured or told by an investigative reporter or news outlet that sells itself as an organization to trust to report and inform to the general public. We now have a conglomeration of opinion broadcasts that are definitely distracting the American public from actual occurances that are indeed news worthy and World altering.
Some recent examples are the abandonment of any coverage of public dissent to the current Bush Administration's war agenda and the numerous failures involving the occupation in Iraq and the negligence in domestic policy regarding the desecration of our natural environment, the corruptions' within our voting process and numerous reversals of laws put in place to protect innocent Americans from economic harm.
I must ask, what in the f**k is the news for anymore? If one google searches, protests outside the U.N, Iraq war footage, or broadcasts from the recent Camp Democracy demonstrations, nothing appears. Progressive web sites alone will not inform a spoon fed public and the powers that be know this all too well. Should the true revolt be aimed at the enablers to a corrupt government or the government itself? We Americans better figure out the answer quick, or we will surely have no choice in the matter.
